Craig Carpenter is the CEO of X1. Craig has 20 years of experience as a CEO, COO, CRO, CMO and General Counsel in the eDiscovery, compliance and cybersecurity spaces.
Prior to X1, Craig was the CEO of Fronteo (NASDAQ: FTEO), before which he was SVP of Sales at Kroll Ontrack until its acquisition by the Carlyle Group. Prior to Kroll Ontrack, Craig was CMO and then COO at AccessData, before which Craig spent 7 years as the VP of Marketing & Business Development and General Counsel at Recommind prior to its acquisition by Open Text (NASDAQ: OTEX). Before Recommind, Craig ran global marketing and channel teams at Fortinet (NASDAQ: FTNT) prior to its IPO and at Mirapoint prior to its acquisition by Openwave (NASDAQ:SNCR).
Craig began his career as a practicing attorney at Ropers, Majeski, Kohn & Bentley in Silicon Valley. Craig has a JD and MBA from Santa Clara University and BAs in Political Science and History from UCLA where he played football and rowed crew.
Brent is the Chief Technology Officer for X1. Brent has more than 20 years of experience as an eDiscovery Consultant, Forensic Examiner. As an expert practitioner, Brent is uniquely positioned as a Leader in the Industry, drawing upon his diverse international experience having performed computer forensics and eDiscovery investigations for Federal and State Law Enforcement Agencies, Foreign Government, Department of Defense, Financial, Healthcare, Motion Picture, Energy and Manufacturing, among others.
Prior to X1, Brent spent seven years at Guidance Software, where he was the primary product manager and feature designer for Guidance Software’s EnCase® eDiscovery solution. Before Guidance Software he was a computer forensics investigator with the FBI, assigned to the Computer Crime Unit.
His qualifications include Certified EnCase® Examiner – EnCE®, FBI Computer Analysis and Response Team (CART). Brent has a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science.
Georges Sabongui is the Chief Commercial Officer of X1 and leads Sales, Services and Finance. He brings over 25 years of executive management experience with both venture-backed start-ups and public companies that develop and market SaaS and enterprise software solutions.
Prior to X1, Georges has held executive roles with several companies including OmniVere, Recommind, ZANTAZ, CaseCentral and Corel Corporation. During his career, he has hired over three hundred and fifty sales and marketing professionals and generated over $600 million in revenue. Outside the corporate arena, Georges pursues his personal passion for wine making as a co-owner of Apriori Cellar, a Napa-based winery. Georges has a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from University of Ottawa.
As Executive Vice President of Operations, Tod oversees company operations, systems, and processes. Tod has been with X1 since 2005. Prior to his current position, he served as the company’s Director of Engineering and was responsible for the technical development of the .NET/WPF-based X1 Professional Client and the Java-based X1 Enterprise Server.
Before joining X1, Tod was the Director of Engineering at Temcor, a structural engineering firm. While there, he worked to modernize the software used to automate the design and fabrication of geodesic aluminum domes.
Prior to his tenure with Temcor, Tod was a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy, serving aboard the submarine USS Louisiana, SSBN 743, where he guided the ship through new construction and was involved in the validation and testing of the systems and crew.
As Executive Chairman of the Board and Chief Legal Officer, John shapes and guides the company’s strategy and vision. He has an extensive background and expertise in enterprise software, eDiscovery and corporate compliance, combining strong knowledge of both the law and the supporting technologies in those areas.
Prior to joining X1, John served nearly a decade at Guidance Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: GUID) where he held several senior management positions, including Chief Strategy Officer, Vice Chairman, Chief Legal Officer and President and CEO. While at Guidance, John led the transition of the company from start-up to a major enterprise software firm and grew revenues from $5 million to $40 million during his 3-year tenure as CEO.
Prior to joining Guidance, John spent eight years practicing law in the fields of commercial litigation and business transactions. John received an undergraduate degree from the University of Southern California and a JD from the Santa Clara University School of Law.
As the Vice President of Products, Nick leads the vison and implementation of the future of X1’s offerings. Nick has been in the eDiscovery and Forensic fields for over 15 years. Nick was previously Director of Product Management at X1 for 8 years. Prior to X1, Nick was a Senior Consultant and Development Field Engineer for Guidance Software, and performed eDiscovery collections and forensic investigations for Cisco Systems.
As Vice President of Engineering, Stuart leads the development team in ensuring quality and consistency in X1 Discovery software. Stuart’s background is primarily in architecture, implementation, design and end-user experience of X1’s product suite.
Prior to his current role, Stuart spent time at SpeakLike, Inc. where he assisted in the early stages of development of crowd-sourced language translation software. Stuart joined X1 in 2005 as a Software Engineer. During his tenure at X1, he has enjoyed a unique perspective on the evolution of search software as it applies to productivity, eDiscovery, and Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC).
Stuart holds a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Victoria, in Canada.
